Home remedies for irregular periods



Irregular periods are not a surprising phenomenon these days. Girls faced different types of a problem during the menstrual cycle. An irregular period is faced by many girls that do not mean that you are pregnant. It is considered as a common problem in women. An irregular period, medically known as oligomenorrhea. Women have 11 to 13 periods per year, but those suffering from oligomenorrhea may have fewer than 6 or 7 periods. There are several causes of irregular periods like weight loss, medical condition or lifestyle. It is, of course, necessary to contact a doctor if your period is irregular for 2 months or 3 months that is very unusual and harmful for a woman’s body. Pain or twinges in the breast and heaviness in the lower abdomen, bouts of nausea, lethargic feel round the clock are some main problems women face as a result of irregular menstruation. There can be a number of reasons that may cause periods delayed. However, the specific reason of irregular periods differs from one woman to the other.

To treat the condition, there are some home remedies for irregular periods. These home remedies for irregular periods aim to promote normal menstrual cycle.

1) Turmeric – Turmeric is rich in anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic which reduce the cramping. It is a warming herb, that aid regular menstruation and is also in balancing hormones. It is very much effective to relieve menstrual pain.It is the perfect choice when it comes to irregular.
How to use- Take a one-quarter teaspoon of turmeric powder and mix it with milk, water, honey and drink it every day for several weeks.

2) Unripe Papaya- Raw papaya is really effective in regulating the menstrual cycle. It works as a potent emmenagogue. Unripe papaya is very beneficial for any delayed period that is associated with stress or menopause. It has anti-inflammatory properties that help relieve menstrual cramps. It also contains nutrients like iron, carotene, iron, calcium and vitamins A & C. It is considered useful in regulating menstrual flow as it helps contract muscle fibers in the uterus.
How to use- Consume unripe papaya juice regularly for a few months. Do not drink it during your periods.

3) Aloe Vera- Aloe Vera is another effective home remedy for the irregular period. It boosts the production of hormones that are responsible for menstruation and can also help in having a regular menstrual cycle. Aloe Vera helps treat menstrual irregularities naturally by regulating your hormones inside your body.
How to use- Take an aloe Vera gel and mix it with a teaspoon of honey. Take this mixture before breakfast. Repeat the process for at least three months to have good results. However, do not drink any aloe Vera gel when you have your period.

4) Cinnamon- Cinnamon is one of such spices that is really useful for making your menstrual cycle in order. Since it provides a warming effect within your body, it can be very effective in eradicating menstrual cramps and initiate regulation of proper menstrual blood flow. Cinnamon is considered useful for regulating menstrual cycles and reducing menstrual cramps. It also contains hydroxy chalcone which is really effective in regulating the level of insulin within the body.
How to use- Take a ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder and add it to a glass of milk. Drink this daily for a couple of weeks. Moreover, you can also drink cinnamon tea, sprinkle cinnamon powder on your toasts, or chew cinnamon sticks frequently.

5) Ginger- Ginger is another one of the very effective home remedies for irregular periods. It is highly beneficial in regulating menstrual cycles and also relieving menstrual pain. It promotes menstruation and hence is good when dealing with delayed or scanty periods. It is effective in women suffering from scanty or delayed periods.
How to use- Boil ½ tsp. Of freshly ground ginger with one cup of water for 5-7 minutes. You can add some sugar to taste. Drink ginger tea three times right after your meals every day. Repeat the process for at least one month to achieve results.

6) Healthy bitter ground- I know bitter ground as the name suggest its very bitter and you may not be a fan of its bitter taste, but be rest assured, that this veggie means well. It’s loaded with antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial properties, which are beneficial for your system. It is another effective vegetable that helps in an irregular period.
How to use- Chop a bitter gourd into half and toss the pieces into a mixer. Churn it till it turns a juice. Add a teaspoon of sugar and drink it immediately. Drink its juice once or twice every day for a few weeks.

7) Apple cider Vinegar- Apple cider vinegar reduces the insulin and blood sugar levels that help regulate the periods naturally. It is one of the most popular home remedies for excessive bleeding during menstruation is regular consumption of apple cider vinegar. It has been known to reduce insulin resistance.
How to use- Take a glass of water and add 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to it and drink every day.
